Looking through the looking-glass backward,
Dr. Gerard is a mere speck in the long, long time ago
story of Maryland beginnings. But he is a fascinating
spec and as his story in the colonies is slowly
uncovered, he begins to assume a curious personality.
This man, a well-educated medical doctor, married to
wealth, borrowed money from his brother-in-law,
Justinian Snow, to travel to the Colony of Maryland
with five servants to gain a manor grant and begin
building a virtual kingdom of real estate in the new
world.
