the U. S. Congress, Alexander was appointed to a
judgeship. Soon after, he was appointed President
Judge of the Judicial District composed of Somerset,
Bedford
and
Franklin
Counties,
Pennsylvania.
Chambersburg became his home.
Thomas Andrew Hendricks and James McLean
Thomson (Mac), nephews, both studied law with Judge
Alexander and were admitted to the Bar. Thomas
returned to Indiana and emulated his uncle’s political
career. Mac pursued an alternative career in
education.
