Mac and Lillie never did legally separate. Their
living in separate households was a situation
manipulated by Mac’s sister, Ed. Ed agreed to take
Mac into her house and provide him with food, shelter
and the medical care he needed if he would leave his
family. Mac moved in with Ed. Lillie worked at various
menial jobs showing she was quite adept at handling
money. When it was time to retire Lillie had squirreled
enough away to purchase a home in the county which,
until her very painful death, she shared with her oldest
son Jim and his wife Dot.
