Warrenton, Virginia, July 7
Dear Aunt Bell,
Here we are at last at the very place I have
been so anxious to move. ...under the
command of Gen Ricketts who is now our
division commander....
Warrenton is full of women. Some of our
officers were in town yesterday. They say the
females looked at them rather pleasantly.
....Things are progressing favorably. My
company is now reduced to 70 men, but I can
assure you those left are a noble set of
fellows. All young men, stout hale and hearty.
One of our boys, Kisswetter--an Italian fought
under Garibaldi, was taken by the rebels at
Front Royal, at least we suppose so as he has
not been heard of since we landed there...
I'm to all. Jinnie's letter was read with much
pleasure.
