1. In 1773--British loyalists burned the Popish sanctuary
to the ground. The Catholic community came
together to rebuild the chapel.
2. In 1814--the rebuilt smokehouse chapel was burned
to the ground by the British army in 1814 (the War of
1812).
3. In 1862--the Massachusetts Artillery burned the
thrice-built smokehouse chapel to the ground during
the Civil War.
In 1906—The Church of St. Francis de Sales at Langdon
was erected on the site of the old Queen’s Chapel. When
the newly constructed St. Francis de Sales Church was
consecrated in 1907, the boundary stones of the property
bequeathed by Richard Queen were still in place.
